Upgrading your server
Add-on statuses, reboot for CPU/RAM/disk, and pending manual add-ons.
Size is not frozen at checkout. Resource add-ons attach to a running or stopped guest from Add-ons. Suspended servers cannot buy add-ons until billing is clear.
What you can add
Sold as catalogue add-ons (prices on the pricing page):
- +2 vCPU
- +4 GB RAM
- +50 GB NVMe
- Dedicated IPv4
- Priority Backups (hourly kept up to 2 days; daily or weekly up to 30)
- Snapshot Pack (five snapshot slots)
- Managed Support (we manage your server: OS updates, security patches, hands-on fixes, priority replies)
Status
The add-ons page shows each add-on on the server with its status: queued, applying, applied, waiting for us, failed, or already on this server (bought at checkout and folded into the new VM).
CPU, RAM, and disk
Those apply to the running or stopped server on the hypervisor. The guest OS does not see the extra cores, memory, or disk until you reboot. Restart from the top of the server page (Servers → the server → Restart) once the add-on shows as applied. If you buy CPU, RAM, or disk at the original checkout, they are folded into the new VM so it boots at the paid size and you skip that extra reboot.
Dedicated IPv4 and Managed Support
Dedicated IPv4 is set up automatically, a minute after you pay, when an address is free. If none is free at that moment, it shows as waiting for us until we add an address, and is then set up for you. The address appears on the server's Overview once it works. Managed Support is set up by a person, so it shows as waiting for us until that is done. It does not change the spec: we manage your server, with OS updates, security patches and hands-on fixes inside it, and your tickets go to the front of the queue.
